The ACT Junior Chess League
presents the
2009 ACT Junior Championship
The ACT Junior Championship is our major junior chess tournament for
the year. It is a three-day rated
tournament, played with long time controls and players are expected to record
moves. This event is suitable for
players with past tournament experience.
Perpetual trophies are awarded to the ACT Junior Champion & Junior
Girls Champion as well as the Under 12 Champion & Under 12 Girls Champion.
When: Monday
28th September – Wednesday 30th September 2009. Monday registration 9.00 am. Play by
9.30am. Tuesday and Wednesday play will
start at 9am. Players may request any
number of byes before the commencement of play.
Byes will not be granted in the final round. Presentation at 5pm, 30th
September. Because of the time controls used, exact start times for each
round, and our finish time each day, are not fixed. Most players will be finished about 5pm each
day.
Where: ACT Junior Chess Centre,
Who: Open to all boys and girls born on or after 1 January 1989.
Cost: $40-00 per player ($50-00 if not a current ACTJCL
member). Third and subsequent children from one family are free.
Time Limits: 75 min per player, per game plus 10 secs a move from
the start.

2009, including the player’s full name, date of birth and a telephone number
where a parent can be contacted during the tournament.
Lunch: Pizza
and soft drink is available for $7 per player per day and a limited range of
snack foods will also be available for purchase.
Notes: Under
new FIDE rules for long time control tournaments, a forfeit time of 30 minutes
after the commencement of each round of games will apply. Players are
encouraged to be on time for their games!
Parents, please provide details to the organiser of
any medical or custodial issues for your child. This should include any known
allergies, chronic medical conditions and behavioural issues that may have an
impact on your child's participation in, and enjoyment of,
our activities. Please make us aware of
any medication that your child carries – we will require them to
self-administer any medication. Children are not supervised when playing
outside the hall at Campbell High. If in doubt please stay and enjoy the
tournament with your child.
