The ACT Junior Chess League
announces the last big event for
our year –
the
ACT "Transfer Chess" Festival
Can you play transfer chess? Maybe you don't even know what transfer
is? Come along to this fun and fabulous
tournament, celebrate another sensational year of chess in the capital … and
we'll teach you to play transfer! Your
chess may never be the same again!
Transfer is a team game. You can
register as a team of two, or register alone and we'll find a partner for you
on the day!
Even more excitingly
– anyone can play! That’s right – young
and old, Mum & Dad – anybody!
When: Sunday 15 November 2009. Registration at 12.45pm. Prize Giving at 5pm.
Prizegiving followed by FREE pizza for ALL
participants and our fantastic end of year party (check out the info on the
next page!)
Awards: Champion Team &
Runner Up Trophies and rating group prizes where the total team rating does not
exceed 3000, 2000 or 1000. Ratings are
as appear on the ACF normal (not rapid) list of September 2009, or the master
list if applicable. Also trophies for 1st,
2nd & 3rd unrated teams . PLUS -
Special Prizes for a selection of categories
which may include things like the oldest team, youngest team, best parent &
child combination, biggest age difference in a team, best all-girl team, best
sibling team or anything else we can think of!
Categories will be announced on the day.
Teams
may only win one prize but everyone gets a ribbon!
Where: ACT Junior Chess Centre,
Who: ANYBODY! Even the old
fogeys, whether they graduated from the junior ranks last year or some other time in a past
millennium. The various rating categories should allow
all players to compete and have a fun day!
Cost: $20 per team. Individual registrations are welcome @ $10 and we will
find you a partner on the day! Third and subsequent children from one family are free.
Time Limits: Games will be played with 5 mins
per player on the clock. Games are won
by checkmate or on time. Games are not
"touch-move" and partners may assist and advise each other. Full rules will be explained on the day! The game is similar to “tandem” or “bughouse”
