  • Ruofan Xu wins the 2017 Autumn Allegro in a tiebreak. Results can be found here

  • Congratulations to all our ACT representatives who participated in the recent Oceania Zonal Chess Tournament held in Auckland, New Zealand in the Open and Women section. All performed well and above their ratings. Special mention to our ACTJCL president Alana Chibnall who earned the WFM title plus WIM Norm, and our local juniors Michael Kethro who earned the FM title & Albert Winkelman who earned the CM title.
  • Athena Hathiramani wins the 2017 Australian Under 14 Girls Championships at the 2017 Australian Junior Championships. Dillon Hathiramani was the runner up in the Under 16 Open Championships.

Notice of Annual General Meeting of ACT Junior Chess League The upcoming Annual General Meeting for the ACT Junior Chess League will be held on Saturday 15 April 2017 (during the Doeberl Cup) at 10:15am for a 10:30am start at University House, Australian National University (exact room to be advised). The purpose of the meeting is to provide reports on the operations of the ACTJCL during 2016 and fill vacant committe positions for 2017.

The committee sets the direction for ACTJCL operations as well as the smooth running of tournaments, junior chess clubs, school events and coaching in the ACT and surrounding areas. The AGM is also an opportunity to discuss the health of junior chess in the ACT and offer ideas for the future. Your attendance is required as ACTJCL needs the support of its parent and support base to allow the ongoing provision of chess opportuniuties for the children of the ACT and region. Please attend, even if only to show your support and make up the numbers for a quorum.
